BOGOR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that 18 buildings were damaged by a tornado that hit Ciampea District, Bogor Regency, West Java on Sunday, December 4 afternoon.

Head of Emergency and Logistics BPBD Bogor Regency, Aris Nurjatmiko, stated that the 18 damaged buildings consisted of 16 residents' houses, one villa, and one fishing pond.

"Yesterday, a review was carried out on Sunday (December 5) at several locations that were affected by the high intensity of rainfall accompanied by strong winds or tornadoes," said Aris in Bogor, West Java, Monday, December 5.

Dozens of buildings that were damaged, he said, did not cause any casualties. However, until now his party is still calculating the amount of material losses caused by the tornado.

"Only material losses from damaged buildings. Material losses are still under assessment, while it cannot be estimated," said Aris.

The tornado that occurred in Tegalwaru Village and Cibanteng Village, he said, also caused two trees to fall. One of them caused road access to be cut off temporarily in Cikarawang Village, Tegalwaru Village.

Aris explained that BPBD officers together with the Village Government, Bhabinkamtibmas, Babinsa, and the surrounding community assisted in handling efforts by working together to evacuate damaged buildings and fallen trees that blocked the road.

Specifically for handling fallen trees in Cibanteng Village, BPBD coordinated with the Leuwiliang Customer Service Unit (ULP) PLN. Because, the fallen tree trunk on the shoulder of Jalan Raya Cinangneng was caught in a cable and hit an electric pole.

"Conducting temporary evacuation by cutting down the tree. Then the PLN handled the electric pole that was hit by the fallen tree," he said.
