JAKARTA - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) distributed one million liters of clean water through 50 units of water reservoirs spread over 112 points for the purposes of evacuation posts and residents affected by the earthquake in Cianjur, West Java.

The Field Coordinator for Emergency Response to the Cianjur PMI Disaster Fajar Aciana, said that until the 15th day after the 5.6 magnitude earthquake, PMI also established four aid posts located in Cugenang, Cianjur and Warungkondang sub-districts.

"Each post serves the needs of refugees, ranging from health posts, trauma healing services to clean water services so that residents avoid disease when using water that is not suitable for consumption," he said, Monday, December 5, as reported by Antara.

It is recorded that up to now, one million liters of water supplied by PDAM Cianjur which has been distributed to four affected sub-districts and continues to be carried out for the next three months using 17 tank trucks from the central PMI assisted by several districts/cities.

"We will continue to focus on providing clean water for evacuation posts and affected villages. Since the last few days, a 5,000-liter tank can operate three times a day," he said.

Not only water needs, said Fajar, PMI also provides permanent health services at four posts and mobile health services 24 hours a day to ensure earthquake victims who live in refugee camps are in good health.

"The third week after the earthquake, PMI received additional medical personnel from various universities in Jakarta, Tangerang, Bogor and Bandung, so that health services were maximized," he said.
