LUMAJANG - Some residents on the slopes of Mount Semeru or to be precise in the red zone area of the eruption were forced to flee to a number of safe locations after Mount Semeru erupted accompanied by avalanches of hot clouds (APG) as far as 7 kilometers on Sunday, December 4. Deputy Regent of Lumajang Indah Amperawati said residents in the red zone such as Supiturang Village and Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village evacuated to safer places such as schools and mosques. The Lumajang Regency Government has prepared logistics for people who evacuate themselves after the occurrence of the Gungung Semeru hot clouds (APG). "Logistics are ready. We have prepared packaged rice for them, residents who have fled in a number of locations," he said after visiting a number of refugees at Mount Sawur, Lumajang, East Java, Antara, Sunday, December 4. Indah asked residents who had temporarily evacuated to wait for directions from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation through the Semeru Volcano Monitoring Post on Mount Sawur. "It is better to wait for information from PPGA Semeru first. If it is declared that there is no more APG caused by the activities of Mount Semeru, then it can be followed up to return to their respective homes," he said. However, if it is not safe, it is hoped that residents in the red zone will remain in the evacuation or evacuation sites that have been prepared and are safer. He explained that people in Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Supit Urang, and some in the Kobokan Bulk are no longer allowed to carry out any activities there, including mining activities in a number of watersheds (DAS) Semeru. "Even though it is declared safe, I ask that there be no mining activities along the Bondeli flow to ensure that there is something sudden and the sand mine trucks do not interfere with the evacuation," he said. Meanwhile, the Lumajang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Pusdalops noted that people in Supiturang and Oro-oro Ombo Villages, Pronojiwo District fled to SD Supiturang 04, SMPN 2 Pronojiwo, Oro-oro Bom Village Hall and Supiturang Mosque. Meanwhile, residents in Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District fled to the Semeru Volcano Monitoring Post (PPGA) on Mount Sawur.
