Commission I Of The DPR Asks Admiral Yudo To Commit Legal Cases Involving TNI Soldiers, Including Mutilation In Papua

Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives Christina Aryani asked for the commitment of the candidate for the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Admiral Yudo Margono, to resolve the legal case involving TNI soldiers, including the case of mutilating Papuans.

According to him, this has been conveyed in the fit and proper test of the candidate for the TNI Commander in Chief carried out by Commission I of the DPR on Friday, December 2.

"We have succeeded in asking for his commitment to continue the good practice of the TNI Commander General Andika regarding the process and enforcement of the law against soldiers involved in violations of the law and criminal acts," said Christina in a statement, Sunday, December 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said, in resolving these criminal cases, the main principle is that law enforcement is carried out completely, transparently, and fairly.

Christina said she also asked Admiral Yudo to think about a special strategy related to handling the "hot spot" area, especially the North Natuna Sea, because many violations of sovereignty were found.

"We believe that Admiral Yudo as the new TNI Commander is able to give his best and the DPR supports the implementation of his duties in the future to continue to synergize for the benefit of the nation and state," he said.

In addition, he believes that Admiral Yudo Margono is able to carry out his mandate as TNI Commander well, because he sees the track record of the person concerned.

Christina assessed that Admiral Yudo was a responsive and communicative figure, as seen from the track record and experience of the person concerned when he was the Chief of Staff of the Navy (KSAL).

"I believe Admiral Yudo is able to lead the TNI organization professionally and is able to maintain good commitments and partnerships, including with the DPR," he said.

Previously, the internal meeting of Commission I of the DPR on Friday afternoon December 2, approved Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander, after he underwent a series of fit and proper tests for the candidate for the TNI Commander.

"After considering the views of the factions and members, Commission I of the DPR RI has approved the appointment of Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander," said Chairman of Commission I DPR RI Meutya Hafid, at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

He explained that all factions agreed to appoint Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander, so that in the internal Commission I meeting the DPR would not vote or "vote".

Meanwhile, the DPR Plenary Meeting on approval to ratify TNI Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander will be held on Tuesday, December 6.
