Starting Tomorrow, BPBD Will Provide Assistance In Repairing Damaged Houses Affected By The Garut Earthquake

TASIKMALAYA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tasikmalaya City, West Java, said that the roof of residents' houses collapsed due to the 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Garut on Saturday, December 3, afternoon.

"As a result of the earthquake in Tuguraja, the roof collapsed," said the Head of BPBD for Tasikmalaya City, Ucu Anwar, reported by Antara, Sunday, December 4.

He mentioned that based on reports and the results of direct field checks, the house really collapsed when it was rocked by an earthquake. The house belongs to a nursing officer named Isah on Jalan Gunung Karikil, Tuguraja Village, Cihideung District.

Furthermore, he said, officers from BPBD and other agencies as well as the community cleaned up collapsed house building materials, while the occupants temporarily fled to their relatives' houses.

"Today we evacuated the collapsed material, while the owner of the house was evacuated to his nephew's house," said Ucu.

The results of field inspections, he said, were no longer damaged, both houses and other infrastructure.

Ucu said that residents whose houses were damaged would receive assistance for repairing houses that were planned to be built starting Monday, December 5.

"Monday we start renovations, we coordinate with the Perawaskim and Baznas Offices, the Tasikmalaya City BPBD Rapid Response Team," he said.

He appealed to the public to always be vigilant, not panic and avoid buildings that have the potential to collapse to reduce the risk of impact from the danger of an earthquake.

The threat of an earthquake, he said, could occur at any time, especially now that it has been reported that there have been two small-scale earthquakes in Tasikmalaya City.

"Last night until dawn there were two earthquakes with a small scale of M 2.9 and M 2.8, the epicenter of Tasikmalaya City," he said.
