Qorin Film Review: Women's Struggle Against Fear Wrapped In Horror Stories

JAKARTA - Qorin became the second horror film produced by IDN Pictures after Inang. This film features a mysterious event that occurs in a pesantren located far from the frenzy of urban dipukok.

Qorin tells the story of a special boarding school for a woman named Rodatul Jannah. The Pondok is led by Ustaz Jaelani (Omar Daniel) who has a wife named Umi Hana (Dea Annisa). In addition, there is also Umi Yana (Putri Ayunda) who is the caretaker of the female students.

In the hut, there were two most striking female students, namely Zahra (Zulfa Maharani) who was a role model student and Yolanda (Aghniny Haque), a new student who had a big tendency to disobedience.

Zahra is known as the female students who are closest to Ustadz Jaelani, both have a unique relationship. Zahra always obeyed orders from her school leadership to get a good value, while Ustadz Jaelani needed Zahra to keep female students who were naughty' like Yolanda from acting.

Problems arose when Zahra was asked by Ustadz Jaelani to perform a ritual opening qurin. Not only that, Zahra was also asked to invite other female students to perform similar rituals.

Not completely focused on mystical things, this film presents the relationship between female students and boarding school administrators. He said, Qorin's film also features at least some human characters when dealing with problems and an authority.

With the set of female special Islamic boarding schools, the cast of Qorin is dominated by young actresses, including Zulfa Maharani, Aghniny Haque, Dea Annisa, Naimma Aljufri, Cindy Nirmala, Alyssa Abidin and Putri Ayudya. Meanwhile, the actors involved were Omar Daniel, Yusuf Mahardika, Ridwan Roul and Pritt Timothy.
