Unexpectedly, For Decades, West Cempaka Putih Residents Disposed Of Defecated Waste Into The Got Channel

Dozens of houses in the West Cempaka Putih area, Cempaka Putih District, Central Jakarta, do not have Septic tanks. Residents have been throwing dirt directly into the sewer channel.

Acting Head of West Cempaka Putih Village (CPB) Arief Biki confirmed that in the CPB area there are 13 houses that do not have septic tanks.

"Today, the construction of the Open Defecation Free (ODF) septic tank carried out by the city-level Baznas. It is targeted that the construction will be completed on December 29, 2022," Biki told reporters, Jumar, December 2.

The construction of septic tanks is carried out right on Jalan Cempaka 1. Later this road will be closed and the socialization of road closures has been carried out to residents who usually pass.

"Road access is confirmed to be completely closed, two- and four-wheelers cannot pass. Our residents ask to find other alternative routes," he said.

The construction of this septic tank is also carried out in the Rawasari, RT 02/01 and RT 07/04 areas. There are 3 houses that do not have shelters for waste of human affairs.

"In Rawasari, the construction is not with the communal septic tank method or a shelter is one of several houses. In Rawasari, a house is built for one septic tank," he said.

Head of RW 09 Andi Basri Daeng said residents of West Cempaka Putih and Rawasari Villages, Cempaka Putih District, Central Jakarta were happy with the construction of a communal septic tank. This is because for decades residents have been defecating directly into the channel.

"Honestly, we are very happy that residents of RW 09 RT 05 Cempaka Putih Barat have built a communal septic tank. The problem is that residents here have not had a septic tank for more than 20 years," he said.
