JAYAPURA - Gunfire between the KKB and members of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) occurred at KM 9 Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains.

Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal explained that the shooting occurred when the police member was about to withdraw money at a BRI ATM booth.

The witness at the location immediately reported the shooting to the Yahukimo Police. The victim was evacuated to Dekai Hospital.

"However, upon arrival there the victim's life could not be saved and was declared dead", Kamal said.

"Witnesses at the time of the incident could not see the perpetrators because of the night conditions and lack of lighting. "Currently we are collecting statements from witnesses and conducting TKP investigations to uncover the perpetrators of the shooting which resulted in the death of a member of the National Police", he continued.
