JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej said the government proposed changing some of the substance of the Draft Law on the Criminal Code (RKUHP). This proposal considers a number of inputs in a hearing (RDP) with Commission III of the DPR RI on Wednesday, November 9. "In a hearing on November 9 after considering the input presented, the government proposed to change several substances," he said during a working meeting with Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Antara, Thursday, November 24. The working meeting discussed the improvement of the Draft Law on the Criminal Code (RKUHP). Eddy explained seven substances in the RKUHP proposed by the Government to be changed. First, the reformulation of legal explanations that live in society, second, the adjustment of the definition of treason is the intention to carry out a third attack adopting provisions regarding case engineering, which are included in Chapters of Criminal Acts of Justice, Section of Procurement of the Judicial Process. The four changes in the valid period of the Criminal Code Bill from two years to three years after it was promulgated, the five article reformulations regarding insults to general power were replaced to insults to limited state institutions. He explained that the state institutions were limited to the presidential institutions, the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR), the Regional Representative Council (DPD), the Constitutional Court (MK) and the Supreme Court (MA). "Then the exception of animal abuse is in order to be carried out for cultural activities or customs, and the last is harmonization as well as reformulation regarding corporate accountability with Perma Number 13 of 2016," said Eddy. The government has held an internal meeting for two days to discuss the Problem Inventory List (DIM) proposed by the factions in Commission III of the DPR RI which was later linked to 23 items of DIM. Previously, Wednesday (9/11), Commission III of the DPR RI received a draft or manuscript of the Draft Law on the Criminal Code (RUU KUHP) version November 9 resulting from public dialogue and socialization in a working meeting (raker) with the Minister of Law and Human Rights at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta.
