Today, Jokowi Sent The Surpres For The Candidate For The TNI Commander To The DPR

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will send a Presidential Letter (Surpres) for the candidate for the TNI Commander in Chief to replace General Andika Perkasa to the DPR today, Wednesday, November 23. Minister of State Secretary Pratikno said the Surpres was sent today considering that the DPR would enter a recess. Meanwhile, General Andika will enter retirement in December.

"In the near future, there will be a recess at the DPR, we have calculated it. Today we will send it to the DPR for the presidential surpres," said Pratikno at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, November 23.

Even so, Pratikno could not name the names of the candidates for the TNI Commander proposed by the president. The name, he said, would be opened after the Surpres was sent to the DPR.

"Later, when it has been received from the DPR. It was from the DPR that conveyed it," explained Pratikno.

Regarding the criteria for replacing General Andika Perkasa, Pratikno said that the candidate for the TNI Commander came from the chief of staff or the former chief of staff who was still active.

"Obviously, the candidate for the TNI Commander must be from the chief of staff or the former chief of staff who is still active. That's the clue," he said.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Political and Security Coordinator (Korpolkam) Lodewijk F Paulus, said that his party would wait for the Surpres until November 25, 2022.

"We are still waiting because there are dynamics, we know that the president has almost never returned to Jakarta. After they start, say from America, then yesterday there was the G20, then they left again for Thailand, APEC," Lodewijk told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, November 17.

Lodewijk admitted that he received information that the presidential decree for the nomination of the TNI Commander was being processed by the Palace. The DPR, he said, was just waiting to see if Jokowi had sent two names or only a single candidate.

"We are waiting, we already have information that it will be processed because when we are still there for the process. Maybe we just have to wait and see if the candidate is one or two, we just adjust it," he said.
