Send Assistance For Earthquake-affected Citizens, Acting Governor Heru: Cianjur Has Andil For Jakarta

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono views that the earthquake that occurred in Cianjur, West Java should be the concern of all parties, including the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, which distributed aid to affected residents.

Heru revealed that Cianjur is a national strategic area (KSN) that has a big role for Jakarta and a number of other areas in Indonesia. Given, Cianjur is a quality rice-producing area.

"I certainly feel sorry for the earthquake disaster in Cianjur. And this is our concern because Cianjur, including KSN, has a contribution to Jakarta and Indonesia," Heru said in his statement, Wednesday, November 23.

Cianjur, with its natural beauty and coolness, according to Heru, is also one of the areas with high natural resource potential.

Judging from the geographical aspect, Cianjur has soil that contains high organic substances, making it a supporting factor to produce various plantation commodities.

"Cianjur is also the crossing of two major cities that we know as one of the agrarian rice-producing areas that has Pandan Wangi rice varieties and has become typical of Indonesia since 1937," he explained.

In addition to rice producers, Cianjur also has the potential for plantation commodities such as tea, coffee, cloves and coconuts and is classified as superior commodities nationally.

For information, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government sent logistical assistance and joint personnel to help deal with the earthquake that hit Cianjur Regency worth IDR 2 billion.

This disaster response team is 154 people who are a combination of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, along with the Indonesian Disaster Management Community (PBI).

Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD Emergency and Logistics Division, Sabdo Kurnianto, added that this humanitarian mission will carry supporting operational vehicles for handling earthquakes, namely trucks (12 units), ambulance cars (3 units), double cabin cars (2 units), buses (2 units), and trail motors (2 units).

"After receiving information on this earthquake, we immediately coordinated with the Cianjur Regency Government and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to ask about conditions in the field, as well as the necessary needs for us to leave it to Cianjur Regency," Sabdo said after releasing the team's departure at the BPBD Office, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 22.

The logistics provided are in the form of ready-to-eat food, mineral water, refugee tents, velbeds, folding mattresses, rolls, pillows, blankets, tarpaulins, mattresses, buckets, dippers, fans, medical masks, hygiene kits, sarongs, mukenah, goni mining ropes, sacks, shovels, hoes, stalls, family supplies, toddler equipment packages, and clothing packages.
