JAKARTA - The Rusunawa Marunda area, Cilincing, North Jakarta is still polluted by coal dust. In fact, the DKI Provincial Government has followed up on the pollution that has been experienced by residents for a long time.

Representative of the Rusunawa Marunda Community Forum (FMRM), Reza admitted that his party was disappointed with the performance of the North Jakarta Environmental Agency because it had not been able to resolve air pollution that endangered their health.

"We are very disappointed with the Environmental Sub-Department, which in our opinion is very slow to take preventive measures so that pollution in our area does not repeat itself," Reza said in a written statement, Tuesday, November 22.

Reza said that the coal dust found in the Marunda Rusunawa is currently a little different from the previous pollution. Dust feels a bit slippery. FMRM suspects this pollution does not only come from the buildup of coal mining products.

"The coal market is a bit different, a little slippery. It is suspected that it could be not only from the buildup. It could be from others. It could be from thehirs in the Archipelago's Terkat Nusantara (KBN) area," said Reza.

Five months ago, the DKI Provincial Government revoked the operational permit for PT Karya Citra Nusantara (KCN) because it was proven to be the perpetrator of coal dust pollution.

The imposition of severe sanctions was carried out after the residents of Rusunawa Marunda felt the impact of pollution four years ago and PT KCN had not yet completed administrative sanctions for improving the management of loading and unloading activities.

If PT KCN wants to resume operations, they must regain environmental permits, by improving environmental management related to loading and unloading activities in accordance with the 32 administrative sanction items previously imposed by the DKI Provincial Government.

Meanwhile, FMRM Chairman Didi Suwandi admitted that his party had monitored the improvement in environmental management by PT KCN, such as the construction of waste management installations. However, the fact is that coal dust pollution still occurs.

"So, we ask the Mayor of North Jakarta and the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta to evaluate the performance of the North Jakarta Environmental Sub-Department, which we see has not yet had significant progress after the revocation of PT KCN's environmental permit by the LH Sub-Department," he added.
