'Set The Disaster Emergency Status In Cianjur!'

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) appealed to the Cianjur Regency Government to immediately establish a disaster emergency status to support easy access in disaster management.

"Local governments are expected to immediately establish a disaster emergency status for easy access in handling it," said Deputy for Coordination of Regional Development and Disaster Management, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Sudirman, when contacted in Jakarta, Monday, November 21, as reported by Antara.

The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture also hopes that all relevant agencies are expected to immediately provide assistance and evacuation to the affected communities and conduct a quick study to determine the impact of the disaster.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture also invited the community to help evacuate and provide assistance to families, neighbors and relatives who were victims until an authorized officer arrived.

"In addition, the public is expected to remain calm and not be provoked by rumors circulating," said Sudirman.

An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 5.6 was centered on land 10 km southwest of Cianjur Regency, West Java Province. This phenomenon occurred on Monday at 13.21 WIB.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the strength of the earthquake as measured by the MMI scale or the modified Mercalli intensity, the Cianjur V-VI MMI, Garut and Sukabumi IV V MMI, Cimahi, Lembang, Bandung Cikalong Wetan City, Rangkasbitung, Bogor and Bayah III MMI, Rancaek, South Tangerang, DKI Jakarta and Depok II III MMI.

Based on the inaRISK study, as many as 32 sub-districts in Cianjur Regency have the potential for moderate to high earthquake hazards.
