Not Agreeing Who Candidates From The Gerindra-PKB Coalition, Cak Imin: Each Ngotot Becomes A Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB) have yet to agree on who will be promoted as presidential candidates (candidates) in 2024. PKB Umun chairman Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin said the two parties still wanted to carry out their respective general chairmen as presidential candidates. Therefore, he will schedule a meeting with Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto to find common ground regarding the presidential election. "Not yet, we will sit together, because until now each of them insists on becoming a presidential candidate," said Cak Imin to reporters, in Jakarta, Monday, November 21. For PKB itself, continued Cak Imin, he still championed himself as a presidential candidate because it was a mandate from the 2019 PKB Congress. Even so, his party did not rule out the possibility that the decision could change by taking into account the development of the presidential candidate's electability. "If there are developments in negotiations later, then I will build a congress to change it," explained Cak Imin. In addition, added Cak Imin, the determination of the presidential candidate to be carried by Gerindra and PKB is still waiting for additional parties to join the coalition. "We are waiting for the development of dialogue with additional parties as well as preparing more mature discussions about the system. The work of the coalition, hopefully, everything will run smoothly," said the Deputy Speaker of the DPR. However, Cak Imin was reluctant to mention which party would join the coalition named the Greater Indonesia Coalition (KIR). "Anyway, we'll tell you in the end. Hopefully at the end of the year, hopefully, but I don't know because until now both want to become presidential candidates," said Cak Imin.
