JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo responded to the deaths of 4 Sigi residents and 6 members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), emphasizing that the law must be obeyed and enforced to protect the interests of the community, nation and state.

President Jokowi, after exercising bicycle at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Sunday morning, responded to the events that occurred in the last few weeks, namely the deaths of 4 Sigi residents and 6 members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), saying that Indonesia is a rule of law.

Therefore, the President emphasized that it is the duty of law enforcers to enforce the law fairly.

"I emphasize that Indonesia is a rule of law. The law must be obeyed and enforced to protect the interests of the people, protect the interests of the nation and the state. It is the duty of law enforcers to enforce the law firmly and fairly. Law enforcement officers are protected by law in carrying out their duties," he said. Jokowi in his statement.

Based on this, the public is not allowed to act arbitrarily and commit acts of violation of the law that are detrimental to society, especially if those actions endanger the nation and state. The legal apparatus should not be afraid or back down at all in enforcing the law.

However, in carrying out their duties, the President reminded law enforcement officials to follow the rule of law, protect human rights, and use their powers in a fair and measured manner.

It was reported earlier that the police attack by Rizieq Shihab's laskar took place at around 00.30 WIB Monday, December 7 in the morning.
