PALU - A total of 15 illegal parking attendants who did not have special attributes were caught in raids by a joint task force formed by the Palu City Government, Central Sulawesi.

"Raids to curb parking in the capital city of Central Sulawesi so that people are comfortable, as well as take action against thuggery under the guise of parking attendants," said Head of the Palu Transportation Service, Trisno Yunianto, quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 20. He explained that this raid lasted until December 2022, and within a month was carried out four times. The joint task force consists of Satpol-PP, Kodim 1306/City Palu, Palu Police, Military Police and Samapta Polda Central Sulawesi, as well as the Transportation Service as in charge.

The raid was carried out on Saturday 19 November 2022 night targeting locations suspected of being rampant illegal parking activities, including the Talise beach or the Palu Bay area and a number of minimarkets.

"Those caught in the raid were not registered as legal parking attendants from the Transportation Service. And a number of minimarkets they used as parking spaces, actually parking-free areas, what they did was part of disturbing public order," said Trisno.

He explained that the Palu City Government and its parties were taking steps to involve parking at the side of the public road and to control the withdrawal of parking fees that did not enter the regional treasury.

"Those caught in the raid will be processed and given coaching," he added.

In addition to conducting raids, officers also disseminate information to parking attendants, if they carry out their activities without legal attributes, they will be given strict sanctions with a maximum threat of three months in prison.

The former Head of Palu Pol-PP stated that the Palu City Government consistently together with the joint task force was active, and regulations by the local government were making revisions to regional regulations (perda) and mayor regulations (perwali) regarding the implementation of traffic and road transportation by including sanctions for violations.
