JAKARTA - The latest strategic nuclear-powered submarine Generalissimus Suvorov has completed all test rounds in the White Sea, including ballistic missile launch testing.

"The delivery team of the Shipyard and crew members has carried out their full duties. Generalized Suvorov has completed all stages of the trial, making several deployments into the sea. The ship's system has been tested in various modes," explained Sevmash Shipyard CEO Mikhail Budnichenko, quoted from TASS November 18.

The newest nuclear-powered submarine is now being prepared for delivery to the Russian Navy, he added.

Earlier this month, the Russian Ministry of Defense said the submarine successfully fired ballistic missiles, as part of the final test.

In a statement the ministry said the Generalissimus Suvorov submarine successfully launched the Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in the northern White Sea, with fake payloads and hitting test targets in the Kamchatka region, far East Russia, citing Reuters.

It is known, the Bulava ICBM is designed to carry nuclear warheads.

The strategic nuclear-powered submarine Generalissimus Suvorov began construction at the Sevmash Shipyard on December 26, 2014. The submarine was developed for the Russian Navy under the Borei-A Project Improvement. This class of submarine carriers is Class Borei.

The project features new fundamental technical solutions, improved equipment, reduced physical areas, enhanced protection and native components.

This advanced submarine will join forces and support the nuclear-powered submarine of the Russian Pacific Fleet.

The Borei submarine and the Borei-A class were capable of carrying 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles and were equipped with 533mm torpedo tubes.

Compared to the Borei series, the Borei-A submarine displays better acoustic stealth, maneuverability, and deep-sea running capabilities as well as better weapons control systems.
