JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry Alue Dohong, officially closed the Indonesian Pavilion at the UN Climate Change conference or COP27 UNFCCC Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

This year, for approximately two weeks, the Indonesian Pavilion again gave a showcase for policies and climate change management actions.

"The Indonesian pavilion shows what we have done in global negotiations and presents various lessons from the field and various stakeholders," said Deputy Minister Alue, Friday, November 18.

The Indonesian Pavilion session is not only done factually, but is also transmitted virtually to spread information globally.

Deputy Minister Alue said, during the Indonesian Pavilion, there was a sharing of information, views, and constructive and integrative thinking about climate change control programs by the Government of Indonesia with other parties, including describing them with various efforts to the national, regional and global community.

"We have voiced Indonesia's actions, strategies, and innovations to the international community, as a tangible manifestation of jointly leading climate action to prevent a global temperature increase of 1.5 degrees Celsius," he said.

In addition to the FoLU NET SINK 2030, the Indonesian Pavilion also discusses various aspects, including the implementation of NDC towards Net Zero Emission 2060, climate financing for sustainable development, opportunities and challenges for climate change and ecosystems.

In addition, other issues were also discussed such as forest fire management, gender in climate change, utilizing natural-based solutions, youth movements, broader market recognition, integrated and sustainable mangrove management, improving stakeholder synergies and strategies in natural resource management, inclusive and collaborative climate action, sustainable peatland management, and plastic waste management.

"We have discussed various topics that are very important for climate action. Even so, we don't want the discussion of these issues to stop at the closing of the Indonesian Pavilion at COP27 UNFCCC. We must continue our discussion and implement what we are handling to move forward to achieve greenhouse gas emissions of 31.89 percent unconditionally, and 43.2 percent conditional by 2030, as stated in NDC Enhanced Indonesia," said Deputy Minister Alue.

In his report, the Director General of Forest Management Lestari (PHL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, as well as the Chairperson of the Indonesian Pavilion Organizer, Agus Justianto, said that the Indonesian Pavilion had held a total of 66 sessions with 323 sources. The speakers consisted of 220 male speakers and 103 female speakers; as well as 238 Indonesian speakers and 85 international speakers.

This year, the Indonesian Pavilion set a new record. The Indonesian Pavilion was previously at COP26 Glasgow, we only had 51 sessions, an additional 15 sessions here in Sharm El-Sheikh. This could indicate that stakeholders present their stronger climate action, in line with the theme of the Indonesian Pavilion this year "Together for Stronger Climate Action".

"Moreover, judging from the number of participants, we estimate that the Indonesian Pavilion has been visited by more than 3500 delegates," he said.

The Indonesian Pavilion has set the best example from Indonesia to the world, encouraging all stakeholders to work together in climate action. State Actors and Non-State Actors have shown their best efforts, from the grassroots level to CEOs and Ministers.

In closing the report, Agus expressed his highest gratitude to the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya; Deputy Minister of LHK Alue Dohong; Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Egypt, Lutfi Rauf; speakers and moderators, as well as to all contributors to the Indonesian Pavilion for their support.
