JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the statement from Papua Governor Lukas Enembe's attorney, Aloysius Renwarin, needed by investigators. He was asked to be present as a witness to the alleged corruption that ensnared his client. "(Aloysius, ed) we summon in his capacity as a citizen to be a witness because there is a need for investigation so that the actions of the suspects are clearer," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Friday, November 18. Ali also emphasized that the summons had nothing to do with Aloysius' progression. So, he asked the lawyer to cooperate in fulfilling the investigator's summons. "(The summons, ed) is certainly not a matter of his main duties and functions as LE's legal adviser. We remind those concerned to be cooperative in attending as an obedience to the law," he said. Instead of throwing opinions, Aloysius and Lukas Enembe's team of attorneys should obey the investigator's summons. "Please attend and explain directly in front of investigators," said Ali. The KPK summoned Aloysius as a witness regarding the alleged corruption that ensnared Lukas Enembe on Thursday, November 17. It's just that he was absent from the investigator's summons and will be rescheduled. Meanwhile, Lukas Enembe's attorney, Roy Rening, said he and Aloysius were indeed summoned by investigators on that day. However, both of them chose to send a clarification letter and the anti-corruption commission had received it. In addition to asking for clarification, these two attorneys also complained to the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi). They asked for protection and instructions for the summons of the anti-corruption commission. This request arose because they felt that as attorneys they had an obligation to keep their clients secret. Not only that, both of them feel they have contributed because they facilitated the KPK's visit to Jayapura to check on Lukas. Roy said the two would not attend the KPK summons without a recommendation from Peradi. Moreover, they always work according to the code of ethics.
