JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin requested that halal product producers in Indonesia be able to maintain quality and guarantees of halalness for the good of consumers. "Together recognition and acceptance of halal product guarantees is a necessity. Not only to seize opportunities in the global halal market, but also to share shared responsibility in providing guarantees for halal products to consumers in various parts of the world," said Ma'ruf in Semarang, Central Java, Antara, Thursday, November 17. Vice President Ma'ruf conveyed this when opening the G20 Global Halal Forum (Halal 20) organized by the Halal Guarantee Product Organizing Agency (BPJPH), Ministry of Religion. "The global halal market is increasingly attracting producers and trade actors between countries. The consumption of the world's Muslims in 2021 will reach 2 trillion US dollars. Even by 2025, it is projected to reach 2.8 trillion US dollars," said the Vice President. A number of countries, according to Ma'ruf, have enjoyed the benefits and benefits of trade volume and transaction value of halal products between countries. "In the halal food sector, Brazil has posted the highest export value to OIC member countries amounting to 16.5 billion US dollars, followed by exports from India amounting to 15.35 billion US dollars," added the Vice President. The Vice President assessed that the penchant for halal products is no longer limited to being based on compliance with religious teachings. "This trend is now reinforced by new philosophical values, such as awareness of health, cleanliness, sustainability, and even welfare and natural balance. All of them lead to confidence in the importance of creating a strong and sustainable future," said the Vice President. Thus, the phenomenon of increasing trade in halal products between countries also has important consequences. Especially in responding to the challenge of realizing the implementation of holistic, inclusive, and sustainable halal product guarantees. "Therefore, international cooperation related to guaranteeing halal products is now a necessity. Indonesia also continues to be committed to developing and strengthening global halal market cooperation, both with G20 member countries, as well as other Indonesian export destination countries," explained the Vice President. Through these efforts, the Vice President believes that the halal economy will become a reliable and calculated engine of economic growth in an effort to recover together, strongly and inclusively. Also attending the event were Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Head of BPJPH Aqil Irham, Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen and other relevant officials. The Halal 20 Forum (H20) is part of the G20 Presidency and takes place on November 17-19 2022. H20 has the theme "Global Halal Partnership For A Robust Sustainable Future" which was attended by 279 participants from 44 countries, namely ambassadors from friendly countries, representatives of 104 Foreign Halal Institutions (LHLN), practitioners, scientists, and observers of guarantees for halal products. The event also signed a memorandum of understanding between BPJPH and the Turkish halal body, namely Helal Accreditasyon Kurumu (HAK Turkiye) and Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA or halal body) Saudi Arabia. BPJPH has also signed an MoU with UIN Ar Raniry Aceh, Padang State University, Queen of Mall and the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association (Iwapi).
