KEPRI - East Bintan Police, Bintan Police, Riau Islands Police (Kepri) detained a student with the initials RA as a result of being involved in a deadly fight that caused the victim with the initials TT to die. East Bintan Police Chief AKP Suardi said the incident was not a beating but a one-on-one duel. "We have examined six witnesses. Everyone said that the two fought one-on-one, not beatings like the information previously circulated," said Suardi in Bintan, Antara, Wednesday, November 16. The police chief explained that the suspects RA and TT were both students at the East Bintan SMAN. Despite being a student, the legal process against suspect RA is still continuing. The perpetrator must be held accountable for his actions, because it has resulted in the victim's death. The suspect was detained after the victim died after being treated intensively at the Raja Ahmad Thabib Hospital, Riau Islands Province in Tanjungpinang City, Tuesday, November 15 yesterday. "The perpetrator is not a minor, because he is 18 years old. His actions violated Article 184 Paragraph 4 concerning FIGHTs with a threat of 7 years in prison," said the police chief. He continued that the incident between RA and TT began when a female friend or girlfriend of the suspect was ridiculed by a colleague of the victim with the initials KV, who was a student of SMKN 1 Bintan Timur. Before long, suspect RA and his friends took the initiative to meet KV to ask for a fight. However, KV, who was with the victim TT at that time, refused. It was precisely the victim TT who accepted the challenge of suspect RA, until the two of them dueled at Antam's soccer field, Kijang, Bintan, last Friday. In the fight, continued the police chief, the victim TT had twice hit suspect RA and hit him in the chest to the stomach. Then, when he was about to throw a third blow, the victim's hand was able to catch the suspect RA. "The suspect then slammed the victim's body into the ground until he was unconscious," said Suardi After the incident, the victim was immediately taken to the Kijang Hospital due to a coma. Then he was referred to the King Ahmad Thabib Hospital and died after being treated intensively. Furthermore, the family reported the fight case to the East Bintan Police for legal justice. The body of the victim TT has been buried at the Kijang TPU Kota KM.25, East Bintan, Bintan Regency, Wednesday afternoon.
