There Are Thousands Of Violations Of Electricity Use In South Sumatra Every Year

PT PLN South Sumatra, Jambi and Bengkulu Regional Main Units (WS2JB) recorded that the number of violations of electricity consumption in South Sumatra reached thousands of cases per year.

Communication Manager of PT PLN WS2JB Sendy Rudianto when confirmed said the thousands of violations were obtained based on the findings of the Electricity Usage Control Team (P2PL) of each unit of the area spread over the local area.

There are several types of violations that his party encounters, including taking electricity networks without going through the meter or power limit, and abnormalities in the kWh meter. Then, violations affect power limits, energy measurements, or power limits and energy measurements.

"Almost every day there are findings (violations) in the field at this time, what else is connecting the flow so it's no wonder the number reaches thousands more per year in South Sumatra," said Sendy, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 16.

Sendy ensured that every customer who committed the violation was subject to sanctions as a consequence of what they had done.

The witnesses were in the form of administrative warnings to the imposition of fines with a large value of more than IDR 1 billion per month according to the electrical power used.

Even anyone who uses electricity that is not entitled to unlawfully can also be sentenced to seven years in prison as stipulated in Article 51 paragraph (3) of Electricity.

"However, so far the focus of prosecution has not been on pursuing the perpetrators, but has been subject to fines, such as customers who are obliged to pay fines with a range of Rp. 10 million and some even Rp. 1 billion more per month," he said, the fine had been given to several customers among the thousands of cases found by PLN.

He ensured that no violation or community was separated from PLN's supervision, because his party had a digital service monitoring system or field inspection carried out by the P2PL team.

So that from there the community is expected to be able to obey regulations and officially install electricity safely and economically.

Because it is known that electricity services in SW2JB to the community are supported by the Sumatra interconnection system. Where all generators in the Sumatra interconnection transmission line are integrated with each other to support each other in all areas on the island of Sumatra.

"The pentin point is not to commit violations because it is very risky for public safety because it can trigger short circuits, as well as the biggest cause of the fire incident," said Sendy.
