JAKARTA - The TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa shared his experience for 35 years serving in the military. He considers the meaning of friendship in dealing with a number of global problems.

"This year is the 35th year I served the Indonesian military, I have served a lot of joy and sorrow during my career since entering the military academy and then getting a position until now," said General Andika, quoted from his YouTube channel, Tuesday, November 15.

During his service from the military academy to his current position as TNI Commander, General Andika said global challenges were always changing and developing.

"I cannot generalize the level of leadership (in the military) as needed, to face the challenges of the current security situation, because the situation will always change, always develop and will never end," he said.

However, according to General Andika, based on his 35-year experience serving in the military, the best way to deal with a situation that continues to develop through friendship with other countries.

"I think the best way is to see if we have friends around us because that's the best thing. I don't know if it's true for everyone, but that's what I think," Andika said.

With this friendship, he continued, every country can work together and rely on each other in various defense activities.

"(For example) when I visit, I have to rely on them, I can't bring my own entire security, have to work together and trust them, so wherever we go, we have to be reliable, trust the host country, no matter how small the country is, or how strong the country is," he said.

And that, according to General Andika, can only be realized properly, of course starting from good friendly relations from the military between countries.

"You all still have a long time to serve, take advantage of education and be friends with each other, not everyone gets this opportunity," he said.

Meanwhile, General Andika shared his experience of serving in the military for 35 years with officers who participated in education with military officers in the Command and Staff Course program.

In the program initiated by the Brunei Darussalam Defense Academy, General Andika gave a number of directions.

The officers who took part in the education came from various countries, including Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Siapura, England and Thailand.
