JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta City Parks and Forest Service has cut 5,844 trees to anticipate falling during the January period until the second week of November 2022.

"We routinely cut trees with dozens of green troops, a total of 5,844 trees spread across eight sub-districts," said Head of Central Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-department Mila Ananda, quoted from Antara, Monday, November 14.

Mila said tree pruning activities were the result of monitoring in the field as well as from residents' complaints.

The tree cutting consists of three categories, namely light (enhancing), medium (many branches cut), and heavy (cutting heights and branches that are feared to fall).

"Thousands of trees that have been trimmed include 1,670 light, 3,080 moderate, 977 heavy and 117 cut down," he said.

Mila also said that his party was also coordinating with the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forest Service to check the condition of trees that were prone to falling.

"The fallen-prone tree is caused by bar roughness so that it can be detected as early as possible using an arbosonic detection tool owned by the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forest Service," he said.

He added that tree pruning was carried out on trees that were already thick and old. Meanwhile, felling of dead trees, porous trees, and affected by infrastructure work is for the public interest.

"The tree's strength is at the root. If the top is too thick and strong winds will have great potential to fall. Many trees are prone to falling in the areas of Cempaka Putih, Menteng, and Gambir," he added.

In addition, he revealed that felling was carried out on trees that were prone to falling or were in infrastructure access, for example in waterways, side roads, as well as porous, dry, and dead trees.

Light cuts are done on small branches to make them look beautiful, shaped, and more teenagers.

In this case, residents are advised not to take shelter under trees when it rains or strong winds.

The public is also advised to report if there are trees that look prone to falling. Mila also added that every felling of trees is subject to compensation for the replacement of new plants.
