JAKARTA - Kalashnikov gun manufacturers perfected their homemade minors, based on the combat experience of Russian troops in special military operations in Ukraine.
The Kalashnikov group, the world's famous AK-47 assault rifle maker, is raising minor weapons based on its experience of use and interaction with the Ministry of Defense, said Kalashnikov Group President Alan Lushnikov.
"We continue to be in contact and work with customers, the Department of Missiles and Main Artillery (Ministry of Defense)," said Lushnikov as quoted by TASS on November 12.
"We collect feedback and have a permanent working group consisting of engineers and specialists to interact with customers," Lushnikov continued.
"Repairs are ongoing and this is a constant process. When you make adjustments to standard items, you need to introduce and verify them through testing and then put them in production. This is a constant process," he said, replying to a question about the increase in small weapons amid special military operations in Ukraine.
As previously reported, Russia modified the Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle used by its troops in Ukraine to speed up firing, giving soldiers more control over the shooting mode, state news agency RIA said.
The AK-12 assault rifle, which entered Russian military service in 2018, will disable two rounds of burst cutoffs, deliver two-way shooting mode controls, as well as adjustable cheek backlashes, Lushnikov told RIA.
"In the shortest possible time, we chose a technical solution, made a prototype and demonstrated it to representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense," Lushnikov said.
Meanwhile, Kalashnikov Group CEO Vladimir Lepin previously said the company had perfected the AK-12 assault rifle based on its experience of use in special military operations in Ukraine.
The experience of AK-12 operations in real war is a separate matter. In March 2022, the Department of Missiles and Main Artillery (Russian Ministry of Defense) held a series of meetings on the operation of AK-12 in special military operations. Proposals are available for further weapons upgrades," explained Lepin some time ago.
It is known that the AK-12 assault rifle, developed by Kalashnikov, became the standard weapon of the Russian armed forces, having exceeded the requirement for relentless fire from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
This rifle has a caliber of 5.45 millimeters (mm) and better accuracy than the previous version. The rifle boasts of larger fire accuracy and some of the Picatinny tracks that provide the platform, to install additional accessories such as views, front handles, flashlights to laser pointings.
In addition, the AK-12 is equipped with a high-performance facet brake compensator that is easily removed. Theage configuration allows to immediately install sound and light damping devices.
