Victim Of Patah Tulang Rusuk As A Result Of Being Attacked By An Uninstalled Elephant GPS On Way Kambas Lampung Dies

A resident named Zarkoni (44) who was seriously injured as a result of being attacked by a wild elephant from the Lampung Way Kambas National Park (TNWK) could not be saved.

The resident of Add Dadi Village, Purbolinggo District, East Lampung Regency, was treated at Ahmad Yani Hospital, Metro City, but was declared dead on Friday, November 11 afternoon.

"The victim died at the hospital at 11.20 WIB," said Head of Section II Way Bungur, TNWK Hall, Nazarudin, when contacted, Friday, November 11.

He said the victim's body had been taken to his residence for burial by the family.

Previously, Zarkoni suffered a fracture to his left leg and a right rib fracture after being attacked by wild elephants from the forest of TNWK Lampung on Thursday, November 10 in the morning.

The incident began on Thursday 10 November at 19.30 WIB. At that time Zarkoni and his two friends, Sugiyanto (55) and Saidi (45) went to guard the fields from disturbances to wild animals.

They then waited and rested in a hut located in a corn farm. The location of the farmers' cultivation is adjacent to the TNWK forest.

Then Zarkoni and Saidi slept on the hut, while Sugiyanto was downstairs just in case. At 02.30 WIB, suddenly a wild elephant was already near Sugiyanto who immediately rushed to run.

Then the elephant knocked down the hut which was being used by Zarkoni and Saidi to rest. Zarkoni, who did not have time to run, was attacked by the elephant.

The victim was evacuated after the wild elephant went to be herded into the forest.

"There was only an elephant. And the elephant that injured the victim was not installed with GPS, so the team was not monitoring it," said Nazarudin.
