JAKARTA - The Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health, dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu said that the stock of Pfizer vaccine was confirmed to be safe after the government brought in 5 million doses to meet the needs of vaccines in Indonesia.

"Pfizer is still safe, the stock is still sufficient. Five million have come, then the stock in the regions is still more than 1 million, so there are 6 million", said Maxi as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 11.

Of the 5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine imported, Maxi said 2.5 million doses were distributed to provinces as well as districts and cities. Meanwhile, the remaining 2.5 million doses are stored in the center as a buffer stock, so that if there are areas in need, the government can distribute them quickly.

"And thank God the average injection has now increased, from the previous 30 thousand, now it is 70 thousand per day. So, if you look at the stock of 5 to 6 million, it can take up to 100 days", said Maxi.

Regarding the number of health facilities that do not have vaccine stocks, Maxi said that this depends on the speed of distribution carried out by local governments.

"I've checked the receipt, it's November 1st. So the distribution depends on the region. But if I think it's by this date, everything should have arrived", he said.

In addition to the Pfizer vaccine, Maxi also said that his party will soon distribute the IndoVac vaccine for use by the public, both as a primary vaccine and booster vaccine.

"We also have reserves for the IndoVac vaccine from Bio Farma. That's right, we have five million halal vaccines, we will distribute them soon", he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, on Tuesday, November 8 said the domestically made COVID-19 vaccines, namely IndoVac and InaVac, would be injected into the community starting this November.

Based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force, as of November 10, 2022, the third dose of Coronavirus vaccination has been recorded to have been injected into 65,601,788 people. Meanwhile, the target for COVID-19 vaccination is 234,666,020 people.
