BANJARMASIN - Former Regent of Tanah Bumbu Mardani H. Maming was charged with receiving money and a luxury watch branded Richard Mile. This acceptance was carried out in relation to the processing of a mining business permit (IUP) in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan. "Has received a gift, namely the defendant has received gifts in the form of money and goods in stages," said the Public Prosecutor (JPU) when reading the indictment at the Banjarmasin District Court, Thursday, November 10. The money received by Mardani reached Rp118.8 billion and was given by Henry Soetio. The giving was made from March 20, 2014 to September 17 through several trusted people and affiliated companies. The gift made Mardani order the manufacture and signing of approval for the delegation of the coal production operation mining company PT Bangun Karya Pratama Lestari to PT Polindo Cipta Nusantara. This process is believed to have violated existing regulations. "Even though it is known or should be suspected that the gift was given as a result or caused by having done or not doing something in his position," said the prosecutor. In addition, Mardani was also charged with receiving three luxury watches in June-July 2018. Richard Mille RM07-01's first watch worth IDR 1.9 billion was awarded on June 16, 2018. Richard Mille RM11-03's second watch, worth IDR 3 billion, was awarded on May 7, 2018. Finally, Richard Mille RM11-02's watch worth IDR 3.2 billion was awarded on July 6, 2018. As a result of his actions, Mardani was charged with violating Article 12 letter b Jo. Article 18 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
