PekanbarU - Pekanbaru Basarnas team, Riau, is looking for a husband and wife couple to fall into the sea after the motorboat they were traveling in was hit by waves in Tanjung Medang Waters, North Rupat District, Dumai City, Tuesday, November 8 night. Head of Pekanbaru Basarnas Office I Nyoman Sidakarya explained that two victims named Alu (40) and Suri (40) are currently still in the process of being searched. "There has been a ship accident that caused the Man Over Board (MOB) to fall into the sea. We are still looking for two," said Nyoman in Pekanbaru, Antara, Wednesday, November 9. I Nyoman explained that his party first received information from the Tanjung Medang Harbormaster which stated that there had been a ship accident that caused people to disappear into the sea. "The information was received by officers Tuesday night at around 22.30 WIB. The ship accident is expected to occur at around 19.30 WIB," he continued. The witness who saw the incident stated that Suri initially fell into the sea. But when her husband tried to help, he fell and was dragged by the current. "The victim was on his way home after looking for fish and was about to go to the Tanjung Medang pier. But the victim fell when the boat was hit by the waves before arriving at its destination," said I Nyoman. Based on this information, Basarnas Pekanbaru has deployed three personnel. Currently, the joint SAR Team and the community are still searching. I Nyoman also reminded the local fishing community to be careful when looking for fish in the sea, especially during high waves. He also reminded fishermen to equip with personal safety equipment such as buoys to avoid unwanted things.
