PekanbarU - The Pekanbaru National SAR Agency team is still looking for an elementary school boy named Rivaldi Lim (11) who drowned in the Siak River while playing and swimming with his friends on the riverbank in Rumbai District, Sunday, November 6 yesterday evening. Head of Pekanbaru Basarnas Office I Nyoman Sidakarya said the team after receiving reports of the incident immediately went to the location to look for victims until the evening. "Six personnel from the Pekanbaru SAR Office rescue team at that time have been deployed to conduct searches around the scene," he said in Pekanbaru, Antara, Monday, November 7. Until this morning, he continued, the team continued the search. He also asked for the support of the prayers of the families of the victims and the community so that the victims could be found immediately. Nyoman told the chronology of the unfortunate incident, namely while playing, the victim's friend saw Rivaldi being swept away by the current and drowned into the river. Then the victim's friends reported to the family and local residents that they had started the search. The Basarnas team conducted a search effort using Under Water Search Device (UWSD), aqua eye, diving equipment, and rescue nets. The SAR Rescue Team also conducted a search to the upstream and downstream of the Siak River for two kilometers to expand the search. Nyoman also appealed to people who live around the Siak River to be more vigilant and careful when playing by the river. Parents are also reminded to supervise their children more when playing, especially when it is currently the rainy season and the Siak River is classified as deep.
