BPBD Notes A Number Of Locations In Semarang COVERing Floods, At Jatibarang Landsor Hopping

Heavy rains that flushed the city of Semarang, Central Java, on Sunday afternoon until evening caused floods and landslides in a number of locations. Semarang City BPBD Secretary Winarsono said the landslide occurred in the Sekaran Village area, Gunungpati District and Jatibarang Village, Mijen District, following the rain that had fallen for several hours. "At the Jatibarang landslide climb, it blocked the road," he said in Semarang, Antara, Sunday, November 6. One of the floods occurred in the vicinity of the Bringin River Basin which was included in the Ngaliyan and Tugu sub-districts. Winarsono said joint BPBD officers, Basarnas and the police were already at the points where the disaster occurred. Meanwhile, the overflow of the Bringin River had caused the Pantura route in the western region of Semarang City to be flooded. The flood also inundated a number of RTs in Mangkang Wetan Village, which allegedly resulted in the breakdown of the Bringin River embankment. A resident of Mangkang Wetan, Junaedi (42) said that part of the river embankment broke at around 18.00 WIB. "At that time the rain was still heavy," he said. According to him, water inundated his house up to about 65 cm. He said there were at least four RTs in RW 8 Mangkang Wetan Village that were affected by the flood.
