The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) for Japan facilitated the signing of an MoU between the Japanese PPT Energy Trading (PPT ET) and two Indonesian partners, namely PT. Agro Industri Mandiri, and PT Inti Persada for the supply of biomass.

In addition, the Indonesian Embassy also facilitated the signing of the MoU with PT Riu Mamba Karya Sentosa and PT Alam Bumi Cemerlang for a wood pellet construction study, in Fukuoka, Japan, Friday.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo is always ready to become a bridge for various opportunities for cooperation," said Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

Indonesia, he said, is endowed with abundant biomasage wealth with a large forestry industry and is one of the largest exporters of wood products in the world.

"Exports of Indonesian palm oil shell commodities to countries such as Japan for biomass raw materials, as well as an increasing trend," he said further.

The increase in this trend, according to him, is a great opportunity for cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, especially for the renewable energy sector in a joint effort to achieve the carbon neutrality target of the two countries.

Along with the government's commitment to converting Diesel Power Plants (PLTD) into Biomass Personnel (PLTBm) and the high need for biomass in Japan, Ambassador Heri believes the opportunity for cooperation in the energy sector of the two countries is wide open.

Chairman of Kyudenko Corporation Matsuji Nishimura also emphasized the importance of cooperation in developing renewable energy for decarbonization as committed by Japan.

Therefore, he assessed that cooperation with Indonesia, which has a large area of Energy Plant Forestry, is very important.

Meanwhile, the Head of Pertamina East Asia as well as the President Director of PPT Energy Trading Co Ltd Agus Witjaksono said the cooperation will focus on biomasa energy because Indonesia has large-scale bio resources for supplies to the Japanese market.

"With the signing of the MOU between PPT Energy Trading and Indonesian partners, we hope to be able to contribute more in supply biomasa from Indonesia to Japan," Agus said.
