JAKARTA - Elimination of manual ticketing has an impact on rampant traffic violations. Polda Metro Jaya will alert traffic police (polantas) on the road.

"Members then stay on the road. They make arrangements, guard is still scattered," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Latif Usman to reporters, Friday, November 4.

The traffic police who are alerted will monitor all motorists. Then, take action.

Originally, with the absence of a manual ticket scheme, the drivers seemed to have openly violated the rules such as not wearing a helmet, going against the current, and removing the vehicle number plate.

It's just that, Latif continued, the action in question is not a ticket. Rather, a verbal warning.

"Still taking action, if you find it, members will definitely take action. So members take action to remind them," he said.

Meanwhile, the ticketing will still use ETLE according to the direction of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. In that way, the public or motorists will obey the rules.

"When it comes to ticketing, the ETLE will work," said Latif.

"Later, after there is an ETLE Mobile tool, we can use it (ticketing). But this is in process," he continued.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police to optimize static and portable electronic tickets and reduce manual tickets to avoid illegal levies (extortion).

The instruction is contained in the Telegram Letter of the National Police Chief Number: ST/2264/X/HUM.3.4.5./2022 dated October 18, 2022, which was signed by the Head of Korlantas Polri Inspector General Pol. Firman Shantyabudi.

"The action of traffic violations does not use manual ticketing. However, only by using ETLE, both static and portable," said the five telegram points.

In the telegram, the National Police Chief also instructed the Korlantas ranks to give a warning to traffic violators.
