JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo (WSH)-991 as a hospital aid ship (BRS) that will increase the strength of the Indonesian Navy. The inauguration of the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991 was marked by the pressing of the siren button by Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the Indo Marine Expo & Forum 2022 at the Koarmada Pier of the Republic of Indonesia Pondok Rowing, North Jakarta, Thursday, November 3. "By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, today, Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 09.42 WIB, hereby the name of doctor Wahidin Sudirohusodo I will strengthen it to the name of KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo with hull number 991," Prabowo Subianto said in conjunction with the sound of the siren above the hull of KRI WHS-991 quoted from Antara. On that occasion, Prabowo also received a souvenir in the form of a painting by dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo from the heirs of the deceased who was also present. "Giving the name of a national hero to this ship proves that we always remember our origins, we remember that we are independent because of the sacrifices and leadership of our national heroes," said Prabowo. The former Danjen Kopassus gave the highest appreciation to the Navy leadership who continues to preserve love for the country through naming national heroes on important ships. He said that KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo is one of the BRS ships made by the nation's children PT PAL Indonesia in Surabaya. The ship's construction began with the first iron cut which was carried out on July 9, 2019, then the first paid-off on October 14, 2019. "We are proud that Indonesian sons/daughters are now able to build ships that are quite complicated and quite large. We must continue this ability. I congratulate PT PAL and the ranks who have worked hard," said Prabowo. Meanwhile, Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Yudo Margono said that the Indonesian Navy utilized the domestic industry, especially PT PAL, in fulfilling the needs of the Indonesian Navy's defense equipment. "This is a form of commitment and seriousness of the Indonesian Navy in the success of the government's program, namely building the independence of the defense industry and increasing the use of domestic products," said Yudo. With continuous and consistent utilization, he hopes to increase the capacity and capability of the defense industry whose estuary for the independence of the defense industry will be realized in accordance with the ideals of the Indonesian nation.
