Polda Metro Jaya has postponed the schedule for the Dewa 19 concert at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) from 12 November 2022 to 4 February 2023 because the event has not yet obtained police permission.
"The concert has indeed been postponed because a permit recommendation has not been issued from the police, a recommendation for permission to organize the event," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Endra Zulpan when confirmed in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, November 2.
Even though they do not have a permit, the organizers have sold 60 thousand concert tickets and the audience who attended is estimated to reach 70 thousand people.
"The committee has sold tickets, so the ticket has not been issued," he said.
Zulpan said preparing personnel to ensure the safety and security of the tens of thousands of people needed time and careful preparation.
"To prepare for better security because with this short time we don't want the security and safety preparations to be optimal for the audience. It is feared that there will be casualties later because the number of spectators is quite large so we ask for it to be pushed back," said Zulpan.
For safety reasons Polda Metro Jaya decided to postpone the Dewa 19 concert to February 2023 and the decision was approved by Dewa 19 management.
"For the sake of the safety of the audience, especially the safety of the soul and security for all parties, the police consider it necessary to ask the committee to postpone the event which was agreed to February 2023," he said.
