The joint SAR team has stopped the search for Alwi (53) who is suspected of being lost in the Indonesian border forest with Malaysia in the Badau sub-district, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) since 12 October.

"Alwi (the victim) has been missing in the forest for almost a month, during the search process there were no signs found," said Badau Police Chief Iptu Surarso in Badau, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, Tuesday, November 1.

The incident began when Alwi and his colleague, Arpansi, left the house for the forest of Kekurak Village, Badau District, to look for wood on Wednesday, October 12, at around 11.00 WIB. The two of them took wood using a canoe.

At that time, Arpansi first went home, while Alwi was still in the forest until late at night and had not returned home.

Surarso said that since the report from the victim's family to the Badau Police, police officers together with the TNI at the border helped search into the forest.

"The family has accepted and sincerely the missing family and the occult prayers have also been carried out for the missing victim, if there is a follow-up search by the family, they only give up their curiosity and family initiatives," explained Surarso.

He said that the forest in the border area was indeed quite extensive, the joint SAR team had difficulty in the search because no signs were found.

"We hope that the family will remain steadfast and leave all of this to Allah and whatever the conditions are, hopefully the victim can still go home and gather with his family," he said.
