GARUT - The Garut Regency Government, West Java is ready to provide assistance for the recovery of psychological conditions and physical household assistants (ART) who are victims of abuse by their employers in Cilame, West Bandung Regency, West Java.
"We are ready to help both physically and psychologically, later when we return to Garut Regency," said Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman in Garut, Antara, Monday, October 31.
He said that he was aware that a Rohimah woman (29) who worked as an ART received unnatural treatment, namely persecution and injured her.
Helmi expressed his concern that the incident of persecution befell the residents of Garut, for that it became a serious concern of the local government and asked the perpetrators to be processed according to the applicable legal rules.
"We are concerned and regret this incident. I ask that this be processed legally," said Helmi.
He conveyed that the Garut Regency Government is also ready to bear the costs of treating victims who are currently receiving medical treatment in Bandung.
He hopes that this incident will not happen again to the residents of Garut, or other areas because the act violated the law.
"I hope this doesn't happen again, anyone anywhere, we are a state of law," said Helmi.
The case of ART abuse by a married couple in Cilame Village, West Bandung Regency has been handled by the Cimahi Resort Police.
The police have named two suspects, namely the initials YK (29) and LF (29) related to the case of confinement and mistreatment of an ART.
As a result of the suspect's actions, the victim suffered bruises on his face, arms, and back.
The victim was rescued by local residents along with the TNI and Polri officers while being held at the suspect's house.
