JAKARTA - The National Police ordered the regional police to collect samples from patients with acute kidney failure throughout Indonesia. Later, the sample will be examined by the Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor)

"Ordered from the special crimes of each regional police, which are currently being treated at the hospital, blood samples were taken, urine samples, and drugs taken," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo when confirmed, Saturday, October 29.

The samples that have been collected will be examined later. The goal is to confirm allegations that the substance drugs they drink are the cause of their acute kidney failure.

Originally, acute kidney failure which is now rampant is said to be due to taking sirop drugs because those containing glycol ethylene (EG) and dietilen glycol (DEG) are above the safe threshold.

"Everything was taken in the lab first. The results of the lab are like what they are brought to Jakarta again and we will meet again with the experts and then a conclusion will be made," he said.

So far, continued Dedi, the process that has been running is still in the data collection stage. So, it is undeniable that it will take a long time until it is collected and researched in the laboratory.

"Still collecting data. So it took a while because it is still collecting data from all over Indonesia," said Dedi.

On the previous occasion, Bareskrim Polri stated that a pharmaceutical company was targeted for the misuse of sirop medicinal raw materials because it found concentrations of glycol ethilen (EG) and dietilen glycol (DEG) above the safe threshold.

The company is outside of two pharmaceutical manufacturers suspected by the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

"We are still there, we will inform you later," said Director of Certain Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Pipit Risnanto when contacted, Friday, October 28.

However, in the investigation process, the company, both suspected of BPOM and Bareskrim Polri, has not been questioned.

The reason is that the investigative team is still collecting samples of sirop drugs from various brands and companies.

"We are in the process of sampled all samples and will also ask for clarification from the producing parties," he said.
