Originally Payung, BMKG's Rainfall Forecasts To Down In A Number Of Areas In Indonesia Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in a number of areas in Indonesia on Saturday, October 29.

Based on information compiled by ANTARA from the official BMKG website in Jakarta, Saturday, the weather forecast applies to Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, and South Sumatra.

Similar weather also has the potential to hit the Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, West Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Papua and Papua.

Quoted from ANTARA, areas that have the potential for rain that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds are Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi. Meanwhile, areas that have the potential for strong winds are Banten, East Java, North Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi.

The BMKG also issued a warning of 2.5-4 meters high waves in a number of areas of Indonesian waters, namely northern Sabang waters, western waters of Aceh, western waters of Simeulue Island to Mentawai Islands, Bengkulu waters, western Lampung waters, western Indian Ocean Sumatra, western and southern part of the Sunda Strait.

Similar warnings also apply to the southern waters of Banten to Sumbawa, southern Bali-Lombok-As Strait, western Sumba Strait, southern Sape Strait, southern waters of Sumba Island, southern Savu Sea, southern Indian Ocean Banten to East Nusa Tenggara and North Natuna Sea.

The high wave warning takes effect from Saturday (29/10) at 07.00 WIB to Sunday (30/10) at 07.00 WIB.
