Children Of Karang Anyar Flats Embedded With DHF, Residents: This Is Just A Clean Toilet, Because Officials Come

JAKARTA - A number of children from the Karang Anyar Flats (Rusun), Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta have contracted Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This is due to poor household waste management.

"Here there are some children who are sick with dengue. That can be seen from the poor waste management, especially the occurrence of water puddles because it is not good for the water disposal system to the canal," said RK, a resident of the Karang Anyar Flat, Friday, October 28.

RK said that the condition of the waste treatment site was filled with waste, larvae and weeds.

"We are here asking the management to do the correct waste management. Please clean the waste, repair the channels so that there are no mosquito larvae because the water circulation is not good," he said.

NN also said the same complaint, another flat resident. NN admitted that he was disappointed with the management of the Karang Anyar Flat which was considered insensitive to the environment. The condition of infrastructure such as toilets is very dirty even though this building has just been completed.

"Just now, the toilet is clean, because there is an event for officials to come. If there is no event, it's really dirty here," he said.

In the same place, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Area (Kadis PRKP), Sarjoko, said that his party would check regarding complaints from residents of the Karang Anyar Flat.

"We will check the complaints of residents who live in the Karang Anyar Flats," he said.
