About the Shooting of Rizieq's Special Troops, Moeldoko: A Pretty Sensitive Incident

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moleldoko said that the shooting incident of Rizieq's special troops on the Jagorawi toll road is a sensitive issue. He was reluctant to comment before he got complete information.

Moeldoko conveyed this during a working meeting with Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and members of the DPR Commission II.

During this meeting, a member of Commission II DPR RI from the Gerindra faction, Sodiq Mujahid, questioned whether the Palace had received information regarding the incident that killed six people on the Jagorawi toll road on Monday morning, December 7.

"Regarding the incident on the toll road between the police and Habib Rizieq Shihab's entourage. Has the Palace received any real information?" Sodik asked in a meeting held at the DPR building, Monday, December 7.

To this question, Moeldoko was reluctant to answer further. He considered this issue very sensitive. But, he admitted that he could already calculate the situation as a result of this incident.

"We need to manage it well. It requires very high accuracy. It needs a process. I have calculated the situation because this incident is quite sensitive," answered Moledoko.

Not satisfied with Moeldoko's answer, Member of Commission II DPR PKS faction Nasir Djamil hopes that in the future, President Joko Widodo and the Palace will form a fact-finding team to investigate the incident. This team is important because of the confusion of information regarding the incident.

"Through Mr. Moledoko, we hope that the President will form a fact-finding team related to the case. Hopefully, with the fact-finding team, we can find the truth with this incident," said Nasir.

Responding to this, the former TNI commander stated that he could not provide any certainty. However, he would convey this request to the President.

"Regarding the fact-finding team, I cannot comment yet. But, we will tell you later," he said.

Previously reported, the incident of the police attack by Rizieq's Laskar took place at around 00.30 WIB Monday. Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Fadil Imran, said that the police received news that the mass of Rizieq's supporters would be deployed in connection with the investigation.

The Regional Police investigated the truth of the information. Then, they followed the vehicle. On the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, Fadil said the officers' vehicles were intercepted and then attacked using firearms and sharp weapons.

"Members felt threatened because they were attacked. Then, they took a firm measure of measure. So, the group of allegedly MRS followers, 10 people, 6 of them died," said he.

However, the FPI Spokesperson, Munarman, denied it. He emphasized that Rizieq had traveled to attend recitation at his family residence. "The news is slanderous. Habib Rizieq is heading outside Jakarta to attend the family recitation. I do not want to mention where it is. It is only a family recitation. It does not involve any parties," said Munarman.
