Monitoring The Opportunities Of AHY And Aher Become Anies Baswedan's Vice Presidential Candidate In The 2024 Presidential Election

YOGYAKARTA - Former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is still choosing and considering vice presidential candidates to accompany him in the 2024 presidential election. Currently, two names have the opportunity to become Anies vice presidential candidates, namely Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and Ahmad Heryawan (Aher). Then what are the opportunities for AHY and Aher to become Anies vice presidential candidates?

The Nasdem Party, which is in coalition with the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), is still in the process of determining the vice presidential candidate who will accompany Anies Baswedan. This can be seen from the mention of the two parties, namely the Democrats and the PKS.

From the Democratic Party, Anies is considered to be compatible with AHY. Meanwhile, PKS has also offered Aher's name to accompany Anies. Although both of them have offered names, the opportunity for each candidate is still equally large because until this article is written, Surya Paloh as the General Chair of NasDem has not made an official announcement regarding this matter.

As is known, AHY is the General Chair of the Democratic Party. Prior to serving as chairman of the party, AHY had a brilliant career in the military world. He even managed to win various awards when he was still a member of the TNI.

Unfortunately in 2016 Agus Harimurti decided to resign from the TNI. This was done because in 2017 he was nominated by the Democratic Party, then chaired by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, father of AHY.

In the 2017 DKI Pilgub, AHY was paired with Silviana Murni. At that time AHY competed with two other candidates, namely Anies Baswean and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok. The gubernatorial election was finally won by Anies Baswedan, who at that time was paired with Sandiaga Uno.

Ahmad Heryawan alias Aher's profile is no less interesting. Aher's name is considered PKS suitable to accompany Anies Baswedan.

In West Java, Aher's name is quite well known because he served as Governor of West Java for two terms, namely in 2008-2013 and the 2013-2018 period. In the second period, Aher was paired with Deddy Mizwar, a politician known for playing the main character in the film Naga Bonar.

Prior to serving as Governor of West Java, Aher had been Deputy Chair of the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD for the period 2004-2009. In addition, he was also known as a lecturer and educator at several universities, namely the Al Hikmah Islamic Da'wah Institute, Ibnu Khaldun University, and FE Extention UI.

Aher was also predicted to be one of the candidates in the 2014 presidential election. At that time he stated that he was ready to run as a presidential candidate for the Republic of Indonesia.

Although there has been no official decision from the NasDem Party regarding the vice presidential candidate he will carry, a number of speculations have begun to emerge, including the great opportunity for AHY to accompany Anies in the 2024 presidential election.

Even the Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party Surya Paloh and the Chairman of the DPP Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono recently held a meeting at Wisma Nusantara, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 26.

AHY himself did not explain in detail the main discussion at the meeting. However, he admitted that he was ready to carry out his duties under any circumstances and anywhere.

"Yes, we personally continue to prepare ourselves, whatever tasks we have to carry out in time, whatever it is, wherever it is, we must be ready," said AHY.
