RUSD Praya Lombok Investigated Ombudsman Imbas Baby Death Allegedly Related To Services

The Ombudsman representing West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) conducted an investigation into health services at the Regional General Hospital (RUSD) Praya, Central Lombok. An investigation following a baby died allegedly due to limited service facilities.

"The agenda is more coordination related to the results of the investigation of the incident of the deceased baby who was taken to the Praya Hospital," said Head of the Ombudsman Investigation Team representing NTB, Arya Wiguna after meeting with the Deputy Regent of Central Lombok at the local regent's office, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 26.

He said that the results of the investigations that had been carried out in recent days, his party had several notes to be used as evaluation material for local governments in order to improve health services at the Praya Hospital emergency room, which had been a complaint, including the case of the deceased baby. The local government has agreed to improve service improvement at the Praya Hospital.

"Health services are indeed the attention of local governments in order to prevent cases of infant and maternal deaths, which are currently quite high," he said.

In the case of the deceased baby, his party is more focused on investigating administrative service issues and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with health ministry regulations Number 47 of 2018 concerning Emergency Service.

In addition, the patient does not have a medical record recorded by health workers who provide services, because according to the Ministry of Health, medical services must be provided.

"No patient medical records were made. There are no CCTV footage, because it is damaged or not functioning," he said.

He said the mechanism suggested that it be unknown in the patient referral system in accordance with the rules. So that the results of this investigation will later be submitted to the local government, even though the hospital has given reasons, because the existing ER facilities were full at that time, thus suggesting patients seek treatment at other health services.

"Praya Hospital is a referral hospital, so health facilities must be a concern of the management of the Praya Hospital," he said.

To note, after the case of the death of Laila Muzhar's 4-month-old baby from North Batukliang District, which was allegedly not given treatment, due to the limited medical equipment and bad in the emergency room, the Praya Regional General Hospital was full, which became the public's attention, including the local government.

The victim died after being taken to another health service facility at the Cahaya Medika Praya Clinic on the advice of the Praya Hospital health workers.
