CILACAP - Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cilacap Regency, Wijonardi, said that the Southern Crossing Line (JLSS), Central Java was flooded around the Pelimpah Bridge for the Sidareja-Pangandaran national road that entered the Cinyawang Village area. "The flood flood was triggered by heavy rains that occurred since last Tuesday at 18.00 WIB, until this morning at around 03.00 WIB," he said in Cilacap, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 26. According to him, the rainy conditions caused the Citanduy tributary to overflow to inundate the Sidareja-Pangandaran national road, especially around the Pempah Bridge, Cinyawang Village, Kedungreja District, since 10.30 WIB. As a result of this incident, he said, the Sidareja-Pangandaran national road segment could not be passed by vehicles. "Based on the latest information we received this afternoon, the length of roads that were inundated reached 100 meters with inundation heights ranging from 100-200 meters," said Wijonardi. According to him, the inundation occurred because of the geographical condition of the location of the incident in the form of basins with a lower road position than the bridge or tributary of the Citanduy River. Thus, he said, the road segment will be inundated when the water discharge of the Citanduy tributary is high. Regarding the flood incident, he said the Patimuan Sector Police officers diverted traffic flow from the direction of Pangandaran, West Java, through the Banjar or Menanti route. In addition, he said, the Technical Implementation Unit of BPBD for the Sidareja Region had deployed evacuation boats along with buoys including sending 100 pieces of plastic sacks to the flood site. "The plastic sacks will be filled with sand and will be used to stem floodwaters on the roads in anticipation of overflowing water into settlements to the east of the embankment," said Wijonardi. Furthermore, he said the heavy rain that occurred from Tuesday (25/10) evening to Wednesday (26/10) in the morning also caused flooding in Wanareja, Sidamulya, and Bantar villages, Wanareja District, with a water inundation height of around 20-120 centimeters. According to him, the number of residents affected by the flood in Wanareja District reached 400 people out of 163 families. In addition to flooding, landslides also occurred in Jambu Village (Wanareja District), Cijeruk (Dayeuhluhur), Cijati (Cimanggu), Salebu, Sepatnunggal, and Cibeunying (Majenang) as well as land disasters engaged in Matenggeng (Dayeuhluhur) and Boja (Majenang) villages. "We through UPT BPBD Majenang Region have conducted an assessment of disasters in Majenang, Wanareja, Cimanggu, and Dayeuhluhur," said Wijonardi. He appealed to the public to remain alert to the potential for hydrometeorological disasters because based on weather forecasts issued by BMKG, extreme weather still has the potential to occur until October 27, 2022.
