JAMBI - The Bungo Regency Search and Rescue Team (SAR) conducted a search for residents who were missing due to being swept away by the current of the Tabir River in Merangin Regency, Jambi.
"Currently, the Bungo SAR Team is searching for a victim named Riki (34) by using a rubber boat to trace the river channel which is quite heavy," said the Head of the Jambi Basarnas, Kornelis, in Jambi, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 25.
Riki went missing in the Tabir River, Muara Kibul Village, West Tabir District, Merangin Regency, and was discovered through the witness report as well as the West Tabir Sub-district, Rahmat on Monday, October 24, at around 15.00 WIB.
Riki was swept away by the current as she was about to cross the Tabir River by swimming to pick up the package.
Initially Riki smoothly swam into the middle of the river, but due to exhaustion, he was finally swept away by the current.
Rahmat, who saw the incident, could not help. He finally reported it to the sub-district and then informed Basarnas Jambi.
Until now, the joint SAR team is still conducting sweeps around the scene with residents and families.
"The team from the Bungo SAR Post is still searching at the scene of the incident carrying equipment such as rafting boats, water rescue equipment, medical equipment, evacuation and communication equipment," said Kornelis.
