BOGOR - The District Attorney for Bogor Regency, West Java noted, the inactive Secretary of the Bogor Regency Trade and Industry Office, Sumardi, who is a suspect in corruption in disaster relief funds, has six housing units. "When we examined his wife, it was stated that he only had three houses, in fact in the field he had six houses," said Head of Special Crimes at the Bogor District Attorney's Office, Dodi Wiraatmaja in Cibinong, Bogor, Antara, Sunday, October 23. According to him, the Prosecutor's Office has confiscated some of the assets owned by Sumardi as compensation for state losses, totaling Rp1.7 billion. "Our efforts here were searched yesterday, namely confiscation. We confiscated the assets including vehicles to cover them," said Dodi. Based on data from the State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which was accessed on Sunday, Sumardi's assets were recorded at IDR 2.96 billion in 2019. He was later monitored not updating LHKPN data in 2020 and 2021. Sumardi's assets increased dramatically in 2019, which was IDR 1.1 billion. This is because Sumardi's assets in 2018 were only recorded at IDR 1.8 billion. Previously, the suspect Sumardi turned himself in to the Bogor District Attorney's Office, West Java, last Wednesday night after escaping for 64 days because he was named a suspect and was on the wanted list (DPO). Sumardi was included in the DPO after being absent from the summons of the Bogor District Attorney as a suspect in a corruption case in disaster relief funds. Sumardi along with another person with the initials SS, a contract employee at BPBD in 2011-2018 was named a suspect on Thursday, July 28, 2022. Sumardi, who is a former Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Bogor Regency BPBD, together with SS, is considered to have misappropriated funds worth IDR 1.7 billion for disaster assistance sourced from Unexpected Expenditures (BTT) for the 2017 fiscal year. The aid fund worth Rp1.7 billion should have been distributed by the Bogor Regency BDBD to the public in three sub-districts, namely Cisarua, Tenjolaya and Jasinga. However, as a result of the Bogor District Attorney's examination of witnesses, the assistance was not distributed.
