The Brimob Bomb Disposal Team of the South Sulawesi Regional Police secured an active grenade found by residents in Tondon District, North Toraja Regency, Saturday, October 22 yesterday.
North Toraja Police Chief AKBP Eko Suroso said the discovery of the active grenade was reported by residents to the North Toraja Police picket officer.
"The SPKT picket member received a report that a resident had found an object such as a grenade in a riot condition. Then a check was carried out and coordinated with Brimob to secure the location," he said when confirmed, Antara, Sunday, October 23.
The police chief said reports of residents regarding the discovery of the pineapple grenade were immediately checked by North Toraja Police personnel led by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Eli Kendek and Head of Intelligence and Security Unit AKP Petrus Sandale.
After a team from the Brimob Bomb Disposal Unit (Jibom) of the South Sulawesi Police arrived at the location, then officers set up a perimeter so that local residents would not enter the grenade discovery area for further security.
"After a physical check by the operator of the Jibom Brimob team, it was found that the grenade was still active and was a type of pineapple grenade," he said.
The grenade was first discovered by a resident with the initials FAT (52) next to his meat sales shop, precisely on Jalan Poros Rantepao-Palopo, North Toraja, when he was about to open his stall on Saturday.
