Millennials from various communities in the Banyumas Raya area, including Banyumas, Cilacap, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, and Kebumen Regencies, provide support to Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run in the 2024 Central Java Pilkada.

The support was declared at the "Dopokan, Ngopi Bareng G-Bran Community-Junior Leader of the Nation's Future" event in the parking area of the Satria Purwokerto Sports Center, quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 23.

When met on the sidelines of the event, the Chief Executive Committee Supriyanto said 14 communities throughout Banyumas Raya consisting of millennials wanted a young leader.

"So, after we considered and often chatted with community friends, it was decided by acclamation that we wanted Mas Gibran to run as a candidate for governor of Central Java in 2024," said Supriyanto.

According to him, it is logical because community members have the right to vote and the right to determine who their regional heads are. Regarding the reason the support was given to Gibran, Supriyanto said the Mayor of Surakarta was a young figure and had achievements in his leadership.

In that case, he continued, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are often invited by Gibran to participate in various activities to promote MSME products. Gibran has also brought the tradition of batik to become known internationally at an event in France some time ago.

"That is our basis for asking Mas Gibran to advance to the 2024 Central Java Pilkada," he added.

Supriyanto said the declaration of support for Gibran was the first time it had been held in Banyumas and his party plans to hold a similar event for the Central Java level.

After declaring his support for Gibran, representatives from 14 communities throughout Banyumas Raya signed a declaration charter that would be submitted to Gibran in Surakarta in the near future.

The 14 communities involved include MSME players, millennial farmers, bonsai plant lovers, online motorcycle taxi communities, football supporters, bloggers, and songbird lovers.
