JAKARTA - The Men's Twin Bus on the Pontianak-Badau route with 35 passengers fell into a ravine. 17 people were injured. Three of them were referred to the Sintang Hospital, West Kalimantan.

The bus with police number KB 7510 F fell into a ravine eight meters deep on the Kenerak road, Kenerak Village, at around 06.50 WIB, Saturday, October 22.

"There were no casualties, but three passengers had to be referred to Sintang Hospital and others suffered minor injuries," said Head of the Traffic Police Unit (Kasar Lalu) Kapuas Hulu Police Iptu Usman Hasibuan to ANTARA, in Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu Regency.

Usman said the Putra Kembar Bus was traveling from Pontianak. On the way, the bus driver is suspected of being sleepy so he lost control and fell into a ravine, precisely on the Kenerak-Semitau road section, Semitau District.

He said the number of passengers on the bus amounted to 37 including the driver and assistant. The average passenger is an employee of the palm oil plantation company PT PIP Tengkawang, Semitau District.

"The passengers, including the driver and the kernet, have been taken to the Semitau Health Center by the community and members of the local police," he said.

Usman said that in the accident, the police first rescued the victims who then examined the drivers and witnesses.

"We prioritize saving passengers first to get medical personnel help. The next step is we will carry out an investigation by examining drivers and witnesses," he said.

With the accident, Usman appealed to two-wheeled, four-wheeled, and public transport drivers to be more careful and prioritize passenger safety

"If you are sleepy, you should rest first, don't force yourself to drive a vehicle," he ordered.
