COVID-19 Update as of October 21: 2,227 New Cases, Accumulated 6,467,189 Cases

JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 57,692 specimens were examined with the results of 2,227 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulated positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,467,189 and active cases have increased by 239 to 19,158", said the data from the COVID-19 Task Force, Friday, October 21.

Today's recovered cases increased by 1,970 people, bringing the total to 6,289,633 people recovered. Then, the number of positive confirmed cases who died increased by 18 cases and the total was 158,389 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 773 cases and a total of 1,438,885 cases. Followed by West Java with 331 new cases with a total of 1,185,693 cases. East Java with 265 new cases and a total of 609,591 cases. Banten with 186 new cases and a total of 340,398 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 729 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 277 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 256 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 194 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 109,927,936.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week was 8.24 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 4,863 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 205,071,436 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 171,752,842 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 64,695,697 people and the fourth dose was 656,735 people. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
